FAQs

How up-to-date are your courses?

Our courses are completely up-to-date. We keep in constant touch with the awarding bodies, the Institute of Refrigeration, and we keep our own knowledge updated to ensure that the training you receive is current and in accordance with industry needs.

What is the instructor like?

Our instructor, Stuart Ellis, is very experienced and highly qualified. Patience and enthusiasm are his watchwords!

What qualifications does the instructor have?

Stuart is an assessor for the Construction Industry Training Board Safe Handling of Refrigerants/Ammonia, and also for CITB Pipework and Brazing Commercial and Industrial. He is also an Assessor for City & Guilds 2078, Units 001/002 (Handling Refrigerants) and Units 003/004 (Handling Ammonia). Stuart is a City & Guilds D32, D33, D34 (internal verifier). He is also a Member of the Institute of Refrigeration and chairman of the Yorkshire branch.

What certificate will I receive?

  1. CITB Safe Handling of Refrigerants
  2. CITB Safe Handling of Ammonia
  3. CITB Pipework & Brazing

As part of a larger training company - the DETA 2000 Ltd - we can offer PAT testing, passport to safety, CIEH Health & Safety, bespoke welding training and forklift truck training courses.

Do many people fail?

No, they do not. Student numbers are kept to single figures, which gives the instructors enough time to spend with each candidate. A policy of continuous assessment is carried out from the first day of the course. If a candidate experiences any difficulty with any section of the course the instructor devotes extra time to helping him/her.
